Wine Making ILNAM Estate

Crusher/destemmer

Must Pump

Crusher and pump

removes the berries from the bunch stems. The grapes are then crushed,
gently split, by rubber rollers. This is what the foot used to do.

is a special pump which can move grape berries, juice, seeds and skins.
These pumps have a rubber impeller which makes the pumping of solids and
liquids possible.
set up is the same for red & white wine making. You can see the large
diameter hoses used. The water on the concrete is from the cleaning &
sterilising of the equipment.

Turning the Bin

Bunches to the Crusher

The large fruit bins can hold up to 500kg of grape and are
lifted onto the bin tipper.
2 people are needed to
turn the cage holding the fruit bin.
The bin is locked in
place and the bunches start to fall into the crusher. Stems are collected
from the rear of the crusher
