removes the berries from the bunch stems. The grapes are then crushed,
gently split, by rubber rollers. This is what the foot used to do. |
is a special pump which can move grape berries, juice, seeds and skins.
These pumps have a rubber impeller which makes the pumping of solids and
liquids possible. |
set up is the same for red & white wine making. You can see the large
diameter hoses used. The water on the concrete is from the cleaning &
sterilising of the equipment. |

The large fruit bins can hold up to 500kg of grape and are
lifted onto the bin tipper. |
2 people are needed to
turn the cage holding the fruit bin. |
The bin is locked in
place and the bunches start to fall into the crusher. Stems are collected
from the rear of the crusher |
